"Tiny Shelters offer individuals a short-term respite from homelessness and an entry to Faith Mission's support programs" https://thefaithmission.org/tinyshelters/
These tiny homes provide a transitional place for small families to live for up to a year while they get on their feet, find steady employment, a more permanent residence, and learn proper financing skills.
Not only are they provided with safe and comfortable living quarters during their stay, but they are empowered to be in a better position to support themselves and their communities when their stay is over. Sometimes people simply need an opportunity to grow, and Faith Missions is providing just that.
"ASP provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation — bringing thousands of volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families." (https://asphome.org/ )
Appalachia Service Project was established in 1969 and has helped to repair hundreds of homes. Many families are experiencing warmer, drier, safer and more enjoyable living conditions thanks to this mission organization.
We have been fortunate to have worked with them on several trips over the years and look forward to our continued service in the years to come.
Jack Ballard Church Builders is an organization named after the man who started it. The purpose of this group is to gather volunteers to complete building projects together to bless many different people in various ways.
On this trip the teams erected a 4,000 sq ft. building for Ability Ministry. A place for adults with developmental disabilities where they can live with their own routines and learn to become independent with their own bedrooms and bathrooms.
Our team of 6 met up with several others and stayed for one week to get as far along in the project as possible before the next groups came in. When we arrived the foundation had already been poured and the walls were in the process of being framed. By the time we left the project was a week ahead of schedule and the remaining teams were prepping for the work to be done on the interior of the building.
